Flying out to Thailand was my first time leaving Europe, beginning in Chiang Mai, hopping from place to place every few days or more. I had much to be nervous about but travelling with friends in that sense definitely is an advantage!
Exploring temples, markets, kayaking with monkeys, climbing waterfalls and so much more. Stepping out of my comfort zone with trying new foods (albeit some much spicier than I could handle), dealing with the change in climate and repeatedly getting sunburnt - not my favourite moment I have to say.
In Bangkok, an especially incredible sight were the temples and monuments of the Grand Palace. The immense architectural detailing was unlike anything I'd ever seen before, truly phenomenal.
Island hopping meant lots of travel time, this and relaxing on beaches I used as some time to spend in my sketchbook. With limited packing space, I took three small A6 notebooks, some pencils and pens. Much quicker sketches than I'm used to doing but it was very good practice.
