My individual exam submission for YACademy's Architecture for Heritage Course 2025.
Starting and completing this project over the span of two weeks, the brief was to design a solitary observatory dwelling (approx. 20–25 sqm) located in visual dialogue with the fortress of Roccascalegna. The unit should offer a temporary overnight stay experience centered around silence, observation, and contemplation, integrating architectural sensitivity with the mystical character of the site. The project must reflect a careful balance between heritage respect, landscape integration, and experiential quality. Particular attention should be given to light, materiality, and symbolism, ensuring the dwelling becomes a quiet yet meaningful addition to the cultural and environ mental narrative of the fortress.
