2025 Kraków

2025 Kraków

Kraków was an interesting change in pace from Vienna and Bratislava, the 'patchwork' style blends colourful exteriors with lively stained-glass. It's also home to a favourite food of mine - pierogi - which I had daily.

Wawel Castle with incredibly fascinating architectural details - albeit a slightly confusing organisation, that same patchwork idea. Through to the back were expansive views across the city.

Unbeknownst to us till we arrived, a jazz festival was taking place for the entire month. A love of the music led us one evening to a small underground bar off the Rynek Główny listening to a jazz artist from Brazil.

A final very difficult day trip was to Auschwitz-Birkenau, our amazing tour guide took around a small group and focused on historical education. The emotionally challenging experience, reshaped my perspective as being in the physical space was much more confrontational to the immense scale of the tragedy.

After this was a short return back home.
