Visiting a friend studying in Spain, Madrid had the most incredible museums and galleries. Las Meninas by Velazquez and the reinterpretation by Picasso were particular gems in the Museo Nacional del Prado. The perspective and depth in both paintings were astounding.
In the Almudena Cathedral it was lovely to find architectural models of both the cathedral and the palace opposite.
Botanic gardens, city lookout points, even the building that contained UNIQLO was architecturally stunning. But a favourite stop was the Royal Palace of Madrid, the staircase entrance and rooms so extravagantly decorated were exquisite.
